Prayer Shawl Ministry
The giving of Prayer Shawls can be for any occasion/time/celebration that prayer and/or comfort is needed…basically any time to let the person know we are praying for them!! Prayer shawls can be given to anyone, family, friends, (near or far), members of the community, or members of the congregation. The shawl goes with a special prayer card from the people of Good Shepherd Lutheran. We keep track in a journal of date given, who is taking the shawl and of the recipient, so there are not duplications. Recipient can use as a shawl or small blanket, whichever they prefer, so shawls are not limited to just female recipients.
Occasions for prayer shawls – illness, graduation, birth, retirement, death in the family, wedding, welcome to community or group, nursing care centers, etc…..
In addition to giving prayer shawls, we are always looking for people interested in making them.. There are no specifications for shawls, knit or crochet, just the size of a shawl/lap blanket. Patterns are also available if that is something of interest to you.
