Food, Faith and Fellowship

This could be the group for you!   The purpose of these groups are to get to know other members in a small group setting.  We gather, we have great fellowship and grow our faith.   Did we mention the food?   We have great food.  Each member of the group takes a turn hosting.  These groups do activities such as, book reviews, service projects, article discussions, sporting activities, plays, movies,  games etc.   Did we mention the food?  Contact the church office for more information about our Food, Faith and Fellowship groups.   Office: 641-828-8088

Plant Sale Update

On Saturday May 11, 2024 Good Shepherd hosted the 4th Annual Community Plant Sale. If there was ever a testimonial to the saying "many hands make light work" this was one prime example. All of you, Our church family showed up to make this another successful year. From the many meetings prior to the sale, to the digging of plants, to the plant pre-sale set up the day before, the sale and craft table the day of the event and of course the follow-up and clean-up. The proceeds from this year's sale went to 2 community non-profits: Neighbor Helping Neighbor and The Blue Star Memorial Water Feature at the Bessie Spaur Butterfly Garden. GSLC will be presenting each of these checks in the amount of $1030.50 for a total of $2061. Did you know that GSLC and the plant sale does not take any money at all (none) from the proceeds to pay for any of the costs that the plant sale incurs. These administrative costs, such as yard signs, bulletin board posters, and Facebook advertising, are all underwritten by Thrivent Financial. Thrivent also chipped in for the costs of the craft table. There were over 40 tea cups made up at this year's sale. Each cup featured succulents and plant accessories that were all free to this year's participants. It was a great addition to this year's sale. Did you know this year's sale had over 300 annuals donated by our Greenhouse and Garden Center sponsors: These include Dan-D Farms Greenhouse, Green Ridge Garden Center, Vanden Berg Greenhouse, and  Earl May Garden Centers. The perennials (over 400) were all donated and dug from our back yards. Thank-you to all of you for your hard work in making this year's 4th Annual Community Plant Sale a success. It wouldn't have happened without you.
